Designing a concept to promote sustainable fashion

Challenge
The project sought to develop an innovative approach to engage consumers in sustainable fashion practices, countering the negative environmental impacts of fast fashion. The goal was to create a solution that combined both analog and digital elements to effectively reach and influence a diverse audience.
Here's our approach:
Conducted research on fast fashion practices and their environmental impact.
Interviewed students to understand their fashion consumption habits and attitudes towards sustainability.
Engaged with subject matter experts, including senior professionals in the fashion industry, to gather insights on sustainable practices and industry challenges.
Analysed data from interviews to generate key insights and themes.
Developed "How Might We" statements to frame the challenge and guide ideation.
Brainstormed, prototyped, and tested solutions based on user feedback and insights gathered.
Created a physical "sustainable fashion wrist band" showing-off the level of sustainability of the user
Developed a companion mobile app that allowed users to customise their wrist band appearance, unlocking themes by completing activities that align with sustainable fashion practices such as repairing damaged clothing.
Integrated social sharing features to create a community of sustainable fashion enthusiasts.
The platform would partner with local second-hand and repair stores to offer incentives through the platform.
Tutor's Comments:
"Awear is an incredibly well-thought and well-developed concept and your final UX prototype is simply impressive. Your project report is very well written and professionally presented. The same goes for your live presentation in class during week 12, which was nicely prepared, very engaging, and enjoyable. I can't find words to express how beyond proud and delighted I am of your work. Honestly. It was clear throughout the last few weeks that you actively engaged in user testing and associated design iterations despite the challenges that you report in your document.
Your design process was very well and effectively communicated in your report through a generous presentation of research outcomes, examples of the design process informed by them, and rich insights and reflections to validate your final decisions. You were not afraid of showing something less than perfect through the weeks (and the report) - you understand that the whole purpose of the second diamond in the design process is to explore a lot so as to make informed and strong design decisions.
Well done! Your proposal for this incredibly well-put-together project is exactly what the world needs from us designers. You have proposed not only a feasible but engaging product-service system that invites users to step all over the toxic fashion industry and walk proud of their achievements. With Awear users can be confident to be part of the solution, no longer of the problem. Overall, excellent work, team! It truly was a pleasure having you in our class this term. Thanks for being so engaged and contributing to a great experience for all. I hope I get the privilege to see more of you and your work next year. All the best, Allie" - Alejandra Mery Keitel, Analogue & Digital UX Tutor
